About the “3 steps blendmap” .. the texture plugin i’ve written in python for VB25..

What about Blender Internal render ? adding textures to BI afaik can’t be done with python alone (needs a patch)

So i can’t make it for BI too ?  .. actually it can be done without even using python , just a node texture group is enough !

It never occured to me before but works very well , also it’s nodes so you can fine tune the result adding a few nodes around , still reusing textures , in a compact and clean UI , with multiple outputs to do different channels of the shader :

Blend file only contains the node group , not the sample scene (i can’t redistribute some of the photo textures)

TO USE THE 3 STEPS BLENDMASK , JUST IMPORT (APPEND or LINK) THE GROUP IN YOUR SCENE :
OPEN YOUR SCENE
GO TO ‘FILE’ MENU , ‘APPEND’ :
BROWSE TO LOCATION OF THIS .BLEND FILE , SELECT IT
SELECT ‘NODE TREE’
SELECT ‘3BLEND’ , CLICK APPEND BUTTON
IN THE NODE TEXTURE AREA SELECT ‘ADD’ ‘GROUP’ ‘3BLEND’

 

EDIT : the file has been updated , as was suggested on Kino3d forum by Gillan , using material nodes instead of texture nodes means you get GLSL preview !!
